Description

A day of yoga to introduce beginners to key yoga poses (asana) with clear instructions on how to get in and out of each pose safely and easily. Yoga props will be used throughout and poses can be adapted to suit people’s unique needs. Pranayama (breathing techniques) is a key part of a yoga practice. Deeper breathing and the synchronisation of movement with the breath helps connect the mind and body. It also develops a greater sense of body awareness. The primary objective of yoga is to prepare the mind and body for meditation. So once you’ve experienced some key poses and breathing techniques we will practice a simple meditation. A handout will be provided to help people continue practicing at home.

Throughout the day I will provide advice on the benefits of each pose and how they can be adapted to suit an individual’s circumstances. This course will provide a good introduction to all aspects of yoga. During the day you will learn key yoga poses, breathing techniques, simple meditation and finish with a guided relaxation.

Ideal for anyone who wants to try yoga but thought they were too old to start. No need to be flexible to take part as we will be using yoga props to help modify poses. By the end of the day you will have the confidence to attend a regular class.
