Many women found fame and a measure of fortune as artists in Europe in the 17th century including the Flemish painter, Michaelina Wautier, and Dutch woman, Judith Leyster.

In the course we will also be examining the careers and works of Italian artists including Artemisia Gentileschi and Elisabetta Sirani, English portraitist Mary Beale and Spanish sculptor, Luisa Roldan.

Ideal for anyone with an interest in the visual arts (specifically painting and sculpture), as well as an interest in women’s studies.
