This course is part of Dillington Discoveries Summer/Autumn week.

Join local Somerset artist Jo Sadler of ‘Forged n Willow’ to make a wonderful 3 foot wide willow flying dragonfly for your home or garden. Jo will guide you through each step to create your sculpture using locally grown willow from the Somerset levels.

All materials provided and full guidance to make your willow sculpture. Just bring enthusiasm, your own secateurs and wear older clothing as it can get grubby!

Tutor information

I have been weaving with willow for four years now and make all sorts of sculptures from Chickens to Deer, Arches for Weddings, bespoke commissions and run courses to make sculpture. I am a supplier to the National Trust and have recently made Barrington Court a gaggle of geese for their Easter trail as well as creating winter displays for last two years in the grounds. I have several deer displayed at Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens which appeared at Dillington House this Christmas pulling the sleigh! I currently use Studi0ne at The Craft Centre, Broadwindsor, where I will also run future courses and sell sculptures. My passion for weaving is never ending and I really appreciated going on a course which just opened the door to a complete new creative world. I am learning to weld so I can expand into metal sculpture and hope to use more materials too.
