Wet Felt Making and Silk Paper Making Workshop
Description
A day exploring natural fibres to create felted fabric and silk paper, in the morning we will work with merino tops which are soft and delicate to make a strong felted fabric with the addition of water and friction – magic !
In the afternoon we will work with fine silk fibres to create a light, delicate paper with inclusions that can be used as a basis of further textile projects, embroidery or displayed as artwork.
Suitable for beginners, no experience necessary, ideal if you have a love of textures, natural fibres and colour.
Tutor information
Clare Walsh is a Textile Designer, Maker and Workshop tutor, with a background in education and a lifetime love of textiles she uses botanical material to print directly onto fabric, creating vibrant unique prints which are used in garments, interior products and accessories. Inspired by and printed from nature her printed textiles are created for bespoke commissions and special projects. Travels in India and a growing collection of hand carved Indian printing blocks have inspired hand printed designs on natural linen and organic cottons and Clare’s enthusiasm for printed textile design, is communicated in the range of courses and workshops she delivers to students of all ages.
