Description

This course is part of Dillington Discovery Summer/Autumn week.

A look at the most fascinating of the Impressionists, who all had secret sides to their lives. Camille Pissarro, the kindest of the group, who painted wonderful pictures of countryside and city. Gustave Caillebotte had a secret private life and produced the epic picture ‘The Floor Scrapers’. Frédéric Bazille, good friend of Monet, painted works of great luminosity, but died aged only 28. Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt overcame great difficulties to exhibit with the Impressionists, their work critically acclaimed. Finally, Henri Toulouse-Lautrec, painter of the nightlife of Paris in a Post-Impressionist style.
