Description

Watercolour and other water based mediums will be covered in this course which will look at all the crucial elements involved in producing good paintings right through from the planning stage to the finished work. Topics will include developing good colour mixing skills, simplification of material, understanding the importance of tone and creating good compositions.

Painting is for many a wonderful hobby or occupation. Watercolour in particular, is a very challenging medium and although this course includes other water based media it will be taught from a watercolour basis.

We all have our own painting demons and there will be time on this course to look at individual problems and work through them.

The course would suit everyone who has a basic knowledge of their medium, a desire to improve basic painting skills and perhaps change existing working practices that are proving unsatisfactory.

Residential Fees From: £712.   Non Residential: £476

Course runs from Dinner on Sunday to Lunch on Thursday.

Tutor information

Clare DuVergier Art was Clare’s favourite subject at school and as a very young child her paintings were exhibited in the junior section of the Royal Academy.  When she was 16 she became the last model of the Polish Expressionist Henryk Gotlib.  As a child she was fascinated by the landscape and explored tracks and woodlands, built camps in secret wildernesses and made endless collections of wild flowers, fungi and rotting wood. Having trained as an actress, Clare continued to paint and has now been painting full-time since 2000. Clare works primarily in oils and watercolour and occasionally with acrylics and mixed media.  As a landscape painter, her inspiration is the landscape itself.  Her work has been shown at a number of galleries in the South West and in Scotland.  Visit Clare’s website for further information: www.clareduvergier.com.
