Description

A series of sewing courses, each one building your skills and confidence.

Dress Block and Toile.

A block is a basic starting point for pattern making. It is a fitted darted shape to fit the figure, from which paper dressmaking patterns are made.  The course begins by taking body measurements working in pairs, then constructing the block from the body measurements. Initially this will be made on pattern paper, then transferred to card once the block is confirmed as being the correct fit.

On the second day you will be making up the toile in calico, then making any alteration necessary to the block to ensure a correct fit, as the block will be used thereafter to make a dress, skirt or blouse pattern from.

You will need to bring your sewing machine to the course.

Accommodation can be booked, subject to availability.
