Description

This course will study three works of sensation fiction.  Sensation fiction took the literary world by storm generating pleasure and disquiet in equal measure.

The course will consider Mary Elizabeth Braddon’s Lady Audley’s SecretArmadale by Wilkie Collins and East Lynne by Mrs Henry Wood.  These writers were three of the most well-known writers of sensation fiction and produced novels that are enormous fun to read but which also make astute commentary on their contemporaneous culture and society.

Ideal for anyone with an interest in nineteenth-century literature and literature more widely, also the position of women in the nineteenth century.

Residential Fees From: £395.   Non Residential: £265

Course runs from Dinner on Friday to Lunch on Sunday.
