Description

The nations that comprise Scandinavia – defined for our purposes as Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland – all have proud musical cultures and traditions.  There are the great figures recognised throughout the world, principally Grieg, Nielsen and Sibelius; but there are many other composers of enormous talent, many of whom have written music that deserves to be better known than it is today.

We will look firstly a little more deeply into some of the greatest and most familiar works; but also, and equally importantly, to experience music you might not have encountered before, and which you will hopefully want to explore in the future.

Using high quality recordings – CD and DVD – we shall explore the riches of Scandinavian music.
