Monday Lunch & Lecture – Building a British Masterpiece: The Story of John Constable’s `Haywain`
Description
This is arguably one of Britain’s most famous pictures and it has become a cherished and popular treasure of The National Gallery’s collection. But how did Constable decide upon its content and determine its composition?
This talk will hope to reveal some things that you never knew about a picture that you may think you know so well.
Includes lunch. Lunch is served from 1pm and lecture begins at 2pm.

Richard Kay is a Director of Lawrences Auctioneers in Crewkerne and the firm’s specialist in paintings, drawings, watercolour and prints. After leaving university in 1986, he joined Sothebys and spent eight years with them before moving to Phillips (now Bonhams) to be a picture specialist and Associate Director there. He joined Lawrences in 1999. His particular area of interest is British printmaking since 1900.
