Description

Many European painters have travelled to Morocco in search of colour and exotic subject matter. In this lecture we look at paintings by Matisse and others who have been inspired by their travel in this part of the Maghreb.

Includes lunch. Lunch is served from 1pm and lecture begins at 2pm.

Angie Smith has a first class honours degree in Art History from Leicester University and a PhD in Combined Historical Studies from the Warburg Institute, London University. She taught at undergraduate level and in lifelong learning for Leicester University for more than a decade until moving to the southwest.   She is currently preparing a volume on medieval building accounts for the Oxford Historical Society and has published many articles in scholarly journals as well as several books including A Timeline of Art History. She is an accredited lecturer for NADFAS and regularly leads cultural tours.
