Description

On the surface overlockers seem very complicated machines, however understanding how they work will increase confidence in all aspects of using them.  This course is suitable for those who already have an overlocker and have not yet acquired the confidence to change the thread, tension and stitch.

Overlockers are a great addition to the dressmaker’s kit, making a professional finish to the seams on the garments, also for use in constricting jersey and knitted fabrics.

The day will be spent going back to basics to master threading up and tension adjustment.

Time will be spent on using a variety of fabrics to produce different finishes along with exploring some decorative effects that can be achieved.

You will need to bring your overlocker sewing machine to the course.

 

Tutor information

Jenny Harrison has been a tutor of Soft Furnishings for more than 15 years, she has a Certificate in Education and has taught to Level 3 City and Guilds at local colleges. In the past she has written articles for Sewing World Magazine. Currently she runs her own classes privately for dressmaking and also offers a bespoke soft furnishing design service to private clients.
