Description

You can add very attractive surface decoration, texture and colour to books with simple techniques such as applying coloured leather onlays and sewn detail. From embroidered outlines to fully appliquéd sections, different stitches can be utilised to great effect. This course will teach the skills you need to build up a design which will be transferred onto a small leather-covered notebook.

The course starts with learning about different embroidery techniques and stitches and making an embroidery sampler to test all these out. Students will then work with leather using these embroidery skills to build up their designs over coloured leather onlays. The course will conclude with the finished embroidered leather being stuck onto a text block to create a bound notebook.

Ideal for anyone interested in bookbinding, drawing, embroidery, leatherwork, appliqué.

Includes some materials.

Residential Fees From: £410.   Non Residential: £280

This course runs from Dinner on Monday to Lunch on Wednesday.
