Description

A block is a basic starting point for pattern making. It is a fitted darted shape to fit the figure, from which paper dressmaking patterns are made.

The course begins with taking measurements then constructing the block from the body measurements. Initially this will be made on pattern paper, then transferred to card or stronger brown paper once the block is confirmed as being the correct fit.

This course would be suitable for students who would like to make paper patterns to fit themselves. Have a keen interest in sewing garments and a good understanding of garment construction.

Progression from this please see the workshop on the 6th March 2023 “Basic Pattern Cutting”.

It would be useful if you could bring your own sewing machine.
