Description

Taking inspiration from the gardens at Dillington, on this studio based course we will learn about drawing and colouring spring flowers of your choice, either in the popular and realistic medium of dry coloured pencils, the versatile watercolour pencils, the essential and elegant graphite pencils or watercolours.

Demonstrations will be given to those new to the mediums, and tuition will be individual making this course suitable for all abilities.  The course will cover the use of basic materials and methods for beginners, and will offer professional advice to advanced students.

All comers welcome.

Course runs from Lunch on Monday to Lunch on Thursday.

Tutor information

Susan Hillier is an established illustrator and botanical painter, who has exhibited widely and has had several solo exhibitions. She has illustrated plant and gardening books and worked as a scientific illustrator at Kew Gardens. Susan has RHS medals and has recorded orchids for the RHS. Recently she completed many illustrations for seven gardening books by Alan Titchmarsh. She is a founder member of the Society of Botanical Artists and teaches on their Diploma course. Susan enjoys teaching and has extensive experience teaching art at all levels.
