Bookbinding – A Spread of Star Books
Description
Come and play with folded paper using the simple concertina (accordion) structure flowing into more complex dynamic and delightful pieces. We’ll use cut, stuck and sewn multi-layering to construct star books with context and narrative and make a seven-point book structure with multiple possibilities in its pages.
Suitable for students with an interest in bookbinding, paper engineering, book structures and book arts, paper cutting, image and storytelling with paper. Ideal for bookbinders, book artists and complete beginners alike. Includes some materials.
Residential Fees From: £474. Non Residential: £344
Course runs from Lunch on Monday to Tea on Wednesday.
Tutor information
Nesta lives in Dorset and runs her own studio, Leafwork. Teaching has always been an important part of her work and she enjoys it immensely teaching, expanding over the last fe years to run a range of courses online. She wrote and taught City & Guilds Bookbinding for some years at City Lit, London and was commissioning editor of The New Bookbinder from 2001 – 2012.
She is currently joint organiser of DB/SoB Joint Workshops. Nesta works mainly to commission in both conservation and designed binding and has work in private and both national and international collections.
