Description

Flex your fingertips and spend the day investigating some classic and contemporary book structures scaled down to make miniature artists’ books. We’ll play with folds, movement, texture, colour and covers to create unique works. Bring content or ideas you’d like to work on or develop your piece from scratch on the day.

There will be a charge of £5-6 payable to the tutor on the day for materials. Some tools will be available to purchase during the workshops.

Tutor information

Nesta studied bookbinding at the London College of Printing and City Lit. She set up her own studio, Leafwork, in north London and, following a move to Dorset now has a garden studio where she works and runs courses. Teaching has always been an important part of her work and she enjoys it immensely. She was for many years tutor-coordinator of Bookbinding at City Lit, London, where she still teaches, and was commissioning editor of The New Bookbinder from 2001 – 2012. She is currently on the committee for SoB Western Region and joint organiser for the 2020-21 series of DB/SoB Joint Workshops. Nesta works mainly to commission in both conservation and designed binding and has work in both national and international collections, including the British Library and the Neale Albert collection of Miniature Books.
