Bookbinding: Cloth Case Book Repair
Description
Do you have some cloth bound books in need of attention? Our focus on this course will be the repair and conservation of cloth case books including dry cleaning, paper repair, fixing dodgy sewing, repairing corners and re-backing without disturbing endpapers. We will colour cloth to match original bindings and generally spruce up and rescue battered books to be handled and read again with confidence!
Suitable for students with some bookbinding experience but not necessarily in book conservation. Materials will be provided, students should bring their own books to work on and have a basic bookbinding tool kit.
Ideal for anyone interested in Bookbinding, book conservation, archives, libraries, museums, etc.
Residential Fees From: £462. Non Residential: £332
Course runs from Lunch on Tuesday to Tea on Thursday.
Tutor information
Nesta lives in Dorset and runs her own studio, Leafwork. Teaching has always been an important part of her work and she enjoys it immensely teaching, expanding over the last fe years to run a range of courses online. She wrote and taught City & Guilds Bookbinding for some years at City Lit, London and was commissioning editor of The New Bookbinder from 2001 – 2012.
She is currently joint organiser of DB/SoB Joint Workshops. Nesta works mainly to commission in both conservation and designed binding and has work in private and both national and international collections.
