Description

This course for intermediate students is designed to develop the skills of those who have followed the beginners’ introductory course and would like to pursue the craft further.

Students will rebind a hard-back book in the case-binding style and can continue to practise this or go on to learn the more complex construction of a book covered in leather.  More advanced students may bring a selection of books to either rebind or repair. However, beginners can also be accommodated on this course, and will learn about folding, sewing and making a case-bound book. If students wish to they may study a special subject during the week.

This time the focus will be on endpapers and the different ways of constructing them, from the simple fold through the ‘made’ endpaper to cloth and leather joints. We will look at the advantages of each particular one and students may use techniques they learn in their own books.

Residential Fees From: £694.   Non Residential: £464
