Aladdin’s Palace Pop-Up Book Workshop
Description
This course will appeal to those interested in art, craft and paper engineering. In the story of Aladdin, the genie builds Aladdin and his bride a magnificent palace of domes and minarets. In this pop-up workshop we will make this palace comprising fourteen separate but linked parts. Several stately rooms follow on from each other, each one with a different ornate interior. An exciting, hands-on workshop for experienced paper engineers and beginners alike.

Paul Johnson is internationally recognised for his pioneering work in developing literacy through the book arts and as a book artist. He is the author of over 15 titles including A Book of One’s Own, Literacy Through the Book Arts and Pictures and Words Together. His unique pop-up books are represented in most major collections including the V&A, the Bodleian Library, Oxford, the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, New York and the Library of Congress, Washington DC. In 2017 the BBC made a video about him and his work shown on The One Show. Earlier this year The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore acquired over 500 items of his original work covering a fifty-year period.
