Both prize-winning performers and composers, violinist Joo Yeon Sir and guitarist Laura Snowden began playing together through their shared interest in playing their own transcriptions and compositions. Their projects have included performing their own works in a live BBC3 radio broadcast, which featured a new commission written by Joo Yeon Sir especially for the event, and collaborating on a series of composition workshops with the Royal College of Music Junior Department and Kings Lynn Festival.
Joo Yeon Sir has performed with Royal Philharmonic, Philharmonia and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras in venues including Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Liverpool Symphony Hall. She has recorded for Karl Jenkins on Deutsche Gramophone and released two critically acclaimed CDs with her pianist Irina Andrievsky.
Laura Snowden was invited by Julian Bream to premiere his commissions in two recitals at Wigmore Hall, and has since given festival debuts across Europe and the US as well as recording Lisa Streich’s guitar concerto with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester. As a composer she has been commissioned by the Park Lane Group, Birmingham Symphony Hall, VIDA Guitar Quartet and the International Guitar Foundation.
