Description

Alma has a diverse repertoire ranging from arrangements of music by Debussy and Dvořák to new works composed specifically for guitar quartet. Alma are passionate about expanding the quartet repertoire and have collaborated with composers such as Sabino de Bari, Ryan Probert and Susie Self as well as producing their own arrangements for guitar quartet from a range of styles and instrumentations, including works from composers such as Grieg, Ravel and the Sherman Brothers.

Performer background

Since its formation in 2013, Alma has performed in many different venues across the UK and Europe, including Winchester Guitar Festival, London Guitar Festival as part of the IGF Aspire Platform at Kings Place, Áureo Herrero Festival, Spain and at St Mary’s Cathedral as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Georgina Dadson, Hannah Woollacott, Jonnie Cumming and Matthew House are all graduates of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal College of Music respectively. Hannah and Jonnie graduated with a Masters Degree from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2018 and Matthew and Georgina are currently studying at postgraduate level at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. The members of the quartet have also performed in masterclasses with Xuefei Yang, Marcin Dylla, Zoran Dukić, Lorenzo Micheli, Fabio Zanon and the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet to name but a few.
